Smallest Antelope in the World

Royal antelope takes the tittle of the smallest antelope in the world. Don’t let the name fool you, this tiny animal can grow only up to 10-12 inches (25-30 cm) at the shoulder.

They live in the dense undergrowth of forests in West Africa and are light brown in color, with a paler underbelly and somewhat darker heads. Royal antelopes feed on leaves and fruits in the undergrowth and usually live on their own or sometimes in pairs.

Males have small spiky horns that are about 1 inch (2.5 cm) long. With a meager weight of 9-10 pounds (3.2-3.6 kg) they truly are the world’s smallest antelopes.
