Just about everyone loves cats these days, that’s a simple fact it seems, and we have the whole Internet to prove it.
Ranked among the most searched keywords on search engines, kittens have taken their place among the web superstars.
So for all you kitty fans, we bring you Mr. Peebles, also known as the world’s smallest cat.
As a fully grown domestic cat, Mr. Peebels is merely 6.1 inches (15.49 cm) tall, with a confirmed weight of 3.1 pounds (1.41 kg). His story as the smallest cat in the world began with his discovery by a veterinarian named Donna Sassman. Dr. Sassnan has found Mr. Peebels by accident while on duty at a local farm in Illinois. Mistaking him for a kitten, she took him to her Good Shepherd Clinic where she discovered that she is actually dealing with a mini-cat.
A genetic defect he was born with has prevented Mr. Peebels from growing bigger than an average kitten, but he has compensated his tiny size with an insatiable appetite, forcing him to eat at least 4 times a day in order to sustain his weight. Not long after his discovery, the mini kitty was officially recognized as the world’s smallest cat by the Guinness Book of World Records committee. He was also featured in National Geographic and has appeared on ABC’s show Good Morning America, bringing him global fame.
